Yi Zhang serves as Partner, China COO and General Counsel at Qiming Venture Partners. He is responsible for legal, administrative, and public affairs at Qiming.
Yi brings almost two decades of legal experience in PE/VC investments, corporate strategic investments and acquisitions, IPOs and financing, corporate governance, and general business legal and compliance affairs. Prior to joining Qiming, he worked as Lead Transaction Counsel of Alibaba Group and Ant Group, and General Counsel of Alibaba Local Services overseeing legal affairs related to Alibaba Group and Ant Group's domestic and international strategic investments and financing, and legal and compliance affairs for Alibaba Local Services. Before that, he had held positions at several well-known international law firms.
Yi received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Cornell Law School. He holds Master's degree in sociology from Columbia University and Bachelor's degree in sociology from Renmin University of China. He is admitted to practice law in the states of Pennsylvania and New York in the US and has passed China's national bar examination. Currently, Yi also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at Shanghai American School.
